ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP
This workshop explores the use of photographic methods in research with older adults, emphasising the power of visual storytelling to elicit experiences, memories and perspectives. Participants will learn techniques for integrating photography into qualitative research, including ethical considerations and participant care.
The workshop will also cover best practices for documenting research projects, focusing on the use of photos to enhance data collection, analysis, and presentation. Attendees will gain hands-on experience in creating photo narratives and developing strategies to ensure their research documentation effectively supports their work.
This workshop offers students and early career researchers the opportunity to learn how to integrate visual research methods into a mixed methods study and the opportunity to practice creating engaging photographic images using a camera phone.

Dr Tricia King
Tricia King is a lecturer in Photography University of Sunshine Coast. She is a researcher in creative arts health projects for wellbeing focusing on creative engagement with older people through photographic and creative practices.
Utilising lens-based techniques such as photo voice, photo-elicitation, documentary and collaborative photography, Tricia’s work is in partnership with older people living in aged care and living with dementia.

Registration fees for workshops will be refunded less a $10 cancellation fee prior to 5pm on Friday 25 October 2024. After this date, we regret that no refunds will be made, however substitute delegates will be accepted. Please note that cancellation fees will apply whether or not payment is received at the time of registration.
